Perhaps unsurprisingly, we can’t get enough of Valentine’s Day. Spending quality time with your partner is right up our street (and, hey, if you need some date ideas we know a good place to find some…).
But we of all people know that February 14th can be a pretty cringey affair. Heart-shaped chocolates, single red roses and restaurants full to the brim with doe eyed couples can be a bit much, even for us at Datemakers.
We wanted to put on an event for couples and singles alike on Valentine’s Day that wouldn’t have people reaching for the bucket… and we needed a crack team of experts to pull it off. Who better to call than the great people over at Bumble?
Having been fans of Bumble for so many years, we were massively excited to be working alongside them and putting our heads together to host a party like none we’d hosted before. This party had to be big, bold – and a little bit different.
We sat down with the women of Bumble to work out what needed. Cocktails? Check. Cake? Check. A caricaturist and magician? Why the hell not.
We pulled off a night of two halves, held at our favourite tea room, Cox and Baloney. Upstairs, Datemakers hosted an adult tea party: teapot cocktails, homemade cakes and miniature versions of our dates. Cheese was tried, cider was tasted and the magician wowed everyone with his sleight of hand. Downstairs Bumble supplied and spun the tunes and had everyone dancing into the night, clutching their signature Bumble tequila cocktails.
Everyone left the night with a Datemakers gift card and more Bumble merch than they could carry. We also know for a fact that a few of our guests left arm in arm with a last minute valentine…but that’s a story for another time.
Check out the video – you get the vibe: fun-filled, boozy and miles away from those jam-packed restaurants with tinkling music.
I think we can say that Bumble and Datemakers are a perfect match…
A second date, a really good second date, can be far more thrilling than the first.
There’s nothing like five days in sunny Spain to make you realise that your partner is more annoying than you thought…
