Brighton’s the home of all things alternative: the city is famous for its laid-back, independent and against-the-grain vibe. And now the same can be said about its dating experiences!
We’ve got tonnes of different date ideas in Brighton. And while foodie and boozy dates always go down a treat, we’ve also made sure there are plenty of dates to match Brighton’s alternative atmosphere.
Instead of yet another trip to your favourite chain restaurant, or paying an arm and a leg for a film that will be online in a month, why not shake things up and do something a little different?
So without further ado, here’s the finalised list of our favourite alternative/unique/weird/wacky dates in Brighton.
#1 Couples Acroyoga
This is a date that combines yoga, massage and acrobatics… which (who knew?!) turns out to be a winning combination. This physically intimate hour-long fitness date will have you and your partner building trust, learning a new skill and getting fit at the same time – all under the expert guidance of your instructor.
#2 A day at Polowood
This one is definitely not for the faint hearted. Head out in the open air and try your hand at archery, clay pigeon shooting and knife and axe throwing, all in one active weaponry date!
#3 Candle Making & Prosecco
This is a luxury date like you’ve never been on before. You and your partner will each create your own soy-wax candle, made from essential oils and sensual fragrances. You’ll spend the hour and a half sipping Prosecco, making your candle, and gift wrapping it beautifully. You then get to take it home to give as a gift (or keep for yourself!).
#4 Learn to DJ
Try your hand at spinning some tunes on this date. You and your partner will be taught the basics – and not so basics – of DJing by DJ Lady E (Dubai’s first female resident DJ who’s now a regular at London clubs such as Fabric and Ministry of Sound).
#5 Enjoy a day of mosaic making …
Get in touch with your creative side and spend a whole day at a private mosaic workshop. You and your partner will learn all about the art of mosaic making, and get to leave with a beautiful finished product with which to decorate your home. Win-win.
First dates are a weird and wonderful thing. A bad first date can send you running for the hills, overthinking and embarrassed, wishing you’d stayed at home. But a good first date is a game-changer.
If you’re a keen Bristol foodie, you’ll have heard of Cargo at Wapping Wharf, a bustling hub of tiny takeaways, quirky clothes shops and dinky dining options.
